What is the total cost?
Our business is an online business. Providing you exclusively use our service online our costs are as advertised. We have no hidden fees.
If you require us to print information off and post it to you or make toll calls on your behalf these additional costs will be charged to you.
A filing fee at the district court of $153.50 only applies to applications that have come about due to a disqualification (imposed by the court).
To file an application in the district court due to a suspension (e.g demerit points) is $200. This changed from free, on the 1st July 2013
Once you have been granted a limited licence you must then get a physical licence from a certified issuer. The cost of the licence is usually between $40 and $50 dollars however is subject to the discretion of the issuer.
How long will it take?
Demerit points: you are eligible to apply for a limited licence without delay. Irrespective of which service you choose to use and providing you work with sufficient speed to get tasks done you could file your application within 48 hours. You will then be given the next available hearing date for a limited licence by the court.
Furthermore you don’t need to wait to be served to get your application underway. You can begin the process in anticipation of being served.
Disqualification by court order: From the day of disqualification you are required to stand down for 28 days (this is a separate stand down to the one that may be imposed at the side of the road by Police, each of which must be served separately). While you can appear in court before the 28 days are up, the New Zealand Transport agency are required to delay the issuing of the licence in accordance with section 104 of the Land Transport Act, until the 28 day stand down period has been completed. Because of this it is generally accepted that applicants should arrange to appear in court on the 29th day (or thereabouts) after a disqualification. Irrespective of the service you choose to use, we recommend that you begin the process soon after disqualification which will allow for the application to be prepared, vetted by police and filed so that you appear in court on or about the 29th day after your disqualification.
Why was Limited Licence NZ created?
A gap in the market was identified when it came to applying for limited licences. For what is essentially a form filling exercise, applicants had one of two choices, that is to either apply solely on their own or to engage the services of a lawyer. Our objective was bridge the gap and create a website that allows indviduals to apply for a limited licence in person with confidence and support, whilst saving considerable money in the process.
Our customised system and process allows you to quickly and efficiently obtain a limited licence to keep you on the move. We are proud to make available to the public what we believe is the most innovative online limited licence application site available in the New Zealand market today.
